Bail hearings by video link

This procedure is a cost–effective way of dealing with bail hearings where applicants are in Immigration Removal Centres (IRCs) in England and Wales. The applicant remains in the IRC and is linked to the hearing centre via video conferencing (VC) equipment. Twelve of the 18 AIT hearing centres are equipped with VC.

The AIT will notify all parties to attend the hearing centre 30 minutes before the listed time. Provided the applicant´s representative has arrived in sufficient time he will be able to have a 10 minute private consultation via video link with his client.

The hearing will then continue as normal.
