Hearings
Interpreters
The role of a Tribunal Service (TS) interpreter is to provide simultaneous whispered interpretation (interpreting during a discussion) and consecutive interpreting (interpreting after a statement is made or a question asked). No written translation work is required.
A TS interpreter is expected to:
- Be fair and unbiased.
- Interpret at appeal hearings on all matters.
- Interpret in both languages impartially and accurately, using the same words where possible.
- Inform the Tribunal of anything which may prevent a fair hearing of the appeal.
- Undertake bookings at Tribunal Service Centres, other than the dedicated Centre, with paid expenses at an agreed rate.
